The Society for Contemporary Art is a young association that supports the development of contemporary art, orientating by current topics. For this the association offers contemporary artists the art space hase29, where they can exhibit their new works.

The “Museumsquartier” is one of the major cultural sites in Osnabrück dealing with the history of Nazism. The “Felix-Nussbaum-Haus” exhibits an outstanding collection of the Jewish painter Felix Nussbaum, who was born in Osnabrück and murdered in Auschwitz in 1944. The “Villa Schlikker”, another part of the “Museumsquartier”, was the center of the local Nazi politics in Osnabrück from 1932 to 1945.

The memorial sites Gestapokeller and Augustaschacht remind of the proceedings of World War II in a special way. In The Gestapokeller many crimes were planned, victims were interrogated and convicted. The memorial site Augustaschacht, site of the former work camp Ohrbeck, reminds of the victims of National Socialism in the region of Osnabrück.

The Erich Maria Remarque Peace Center, opened in 1996, is jointly operated by the City of Osnabrück and the University of Osnabrück and established with project funds from the Foundation of Lower Saxony. It houses the Erich Maria Remarque Archive with the affiliated War and Literature Research Center as well as a permanent exhibition on the life and work of Erich Maria Remarque.

The EMAF ranks among the most significant forums of the international media art. With its diverse program the festival offers an overview of various genres of medial arts. Thanks to the congregation of artists, curators, gallerists and expert audience, the future of medial art is coined here.

The LAG works for development in the medial area. Next to screenings for children and young adults, also active video work is an important part of the LAG. For youths the LAG offers media-workshops as well as film-analysis and practical seminaries.

The independent media workshop werk.statt wants to promote the use of media in culture. For this, it offers professional media production techniques for supporting the realization of diverse projects. Moreover, the werk.statt works out productions for cultural providers.

The Theatre of Osnabrück is a central place of cultural happening in Osnabrück. Through music, play, and dance the Theatre crates a distinguished and highly qualified cultural offer for people of all ages.

Located in a fomer church, the Kunsthalle is one oft he most beautiful, and also one of the most demanding exhibition spaces in Northern Germany. In a total area of 1.500 m², national and international artists present their work.
